چکیده

The long-term clinical outcomes of implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) recipients across New Zealand are unknown. This study provides a detailed analysis ICD in over the past decade. All patients with an implant between 2010 and 2019 were identified using National Minimum Dataset, which collects all public hospital admissions International Statistical Classification Diseases Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification (ICD10-AM) procedure coding. There 4,261 mean follow-up 4.85±2.76 years. 1,739 (40.8%) primary prevention 2,522 (59.2%) secondary recipients. median age was 62 years 78.9% male. no significant difference all-cause mortality or (21.7% vs 21.9%, p=0.99). In group, heart failure (HF) hospitalisation more frequently occurred (32.7% 26.1%, p<0.001) but hospitalisations ventricular arrhythmia (VA) less common (16.7% 27.1%, p<0.001). Compared non-ischaemic aetiology for HF, those ischaemic HF had higher (30.0% 16.1%, p<0.001), (38.0% 22.4%, VA (27.9% 19.4%, recipients, there implants. However, significantly mortality, hospitalisation, VA.

Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator in a patient with dextrocardia situs inversus

Background: Dextrocardia is a congenital anomaly, which may have coexistent coronary artery disease (CAD), arrhythmias and conventional indications for device therapy. However, the implantation of transvenous leads can be technically challenging and the approach needs to be tailored to the patient's individual anatomy. Case presentation: A 54-year-old male with dextrocardia situs inversus and i...

Long-term survival of implantable cardioverter defibrillator recipients with end-stage renal disease

BACKGROUND The efficacy of implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD) for primary prevention of sudden cardiac death (SCD) has not been studied in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and left ventricular dysfunction. We sought to identify predictors of long-term survival among ICD recipients with and without ESRD. METHODS Patients implanted with an ICD at our institution from Janu...

Predictors of early mortality in implantable cardioverter-defibrillator recipients

AIMS Multiple trials have shown that implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) prolong survival in secondary and primary prevention populations. However, in spite of the efficacy of these devices in terminating life-threatening arrhythmias, total mortality remains high. METHODS AND RESULTS We evaluated 1703 patients (mean age: 67 +/- 12 years, 82% male) with conventional ICD indications,...
